National Bible Bee p. 2-

Well, Friday night after a long day (more on that later) I borrowed Mommy’s computer. I had spent a week praying to God. Mommy had searched earlier and found that results were due to be up that night. I quickly started her sprint card, opened an internet tab and went to www.biblebee.com. There I found a tab bragging ‘Results’ and selected Junior. The results were in alphabetical order; not by score. I noticed that the ‘Average Score’ was 350 points out of 500… Mrs. Amy (the woman in charge of the local bee we attended) had sent out ranking previously and I had ranked 5th with 307 points and Sam 7th with 280-something points. Scrolling down I was not dissapointed (or suprised) to find neither Sam nor I made nationals. It was an answered prayed. If Sam and I had made it I would have had to decide where to spend my time for the next month and a half. (NCFCA or National Bible Bee). Also it would have been a great cause of disappointment to one of us if the other had made it, et cetera….
For one whole week I prayed, and prayed for God to provide for us, and as I looked on I found God had given me a subtle peace knowing that he had provided and now, I could focus on Speech and Debate…
I was relieved… now I had to tell Sam and my parents…
Praise God for his provision…
Signing Off, Katie

The 1st Annual National Bible Bee

Oh my!!! The kids, along with approximately 17,000 others, studied all summer for this day. The first round of the National Bible Bee. The amount of material they were to study was immense. Over 350 bible passages, intimate knowledge of 6 major books of the bible and about 400 bible knowledge questions. In reality, it was more than anyone could study in one summer. Today was the day of testing.

To say the test was difficult would be a major understatement. One seminary professor said the test was so difficult that none of his seminary students could have passed it. Kristi and I both judged the primary children’s division, up to 10 year olds. We felt so bad as one after another came in and could not cite the verses requested. The passages were tough. When Psalm 100 was requested, more than 1 child said, “I can say Psalm 100 verse 3”. I’m sorry you will need to recite the entire chapter.

Overall it was a pretty disappointing day for most who participated. The children learned so much throughout the course of the summer, I’m sorry that they didn’t get a chance to showcase it more today. As for our children, we’ll have to see, they felt very good about the written test, but the oral portion was just too difficult. When the results are announced we’ll be sure to let you know.
